A large antique bentwood and bergere sofa attributed to Thonet Viennese Nr. 4, circa 1870s. It doesn't have a maker's mark on the underside, but the shape and back rest pattern correspond to that model. The sofa also comes with a beautiful seat cushion that perfectly fits the seat.
This design classic will make a great statement and will be perfect for a large hallway, a bedroom or a living room.
The sofa is in a lovely vintage condition, with strong great looking cane seat - no splits or rips were spotted. The frame comes in its original condition with some wear to the finish, some splits and some areas of old inactive woodworm - commensurate with wear to the furniture items of this style and era and none detract from the beauty of the piece. The seat cushion is in a great clean condition. A few tiny holes were spotted on one side, but hardly noticeable.
